In January we announced professional road racer and Corvette Hall of Fame inductee Andy Pilgrim would be joining the team at the NCM Motorsports Park. We can announce today that Andy will also be moving his Traffic Safety Education Foundation, to Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Andy first became interested in road safety in the mid-90’s as a give back project, initially speaking to high school students in FL. Wanting to take things further, he launched The Traffic Safety Education Foundation as an official 501(c)(3) organization in 2008.

Distracted driving is a growing epidemic in the US and the main cause for the massive increase in traffic deaths and injuries over the last 3 years. Andy has produced several educational videos to help improve things. They are aimed at new drivers, parents with children of all ages and driver education teachers. Understanding the need for younger children to know more about the dangers of distracted driving, Andy also produced a mobility curriculum for grade 4 through 8 students. His latest video for educators should be finished in a few weeks.

“I’m very excited to move the Traffic Safety Education Foundation to the NCM Motorsports Park. I’m looking forward to knowing much more about Bowling Green over the coming weeks and months. I plan to work very closely with the Bowling Green chamber of commerce and law enforcement, as well as state officials in Kentucky to help make a difference in educating people about distracted driving and traffic safety. I certainly couldn’t find a better partner for this mission than the National Corvette Museum, especially in Bowling Green KY. I can’t wait to get started!”

“Both the Museum and Motorsports Park are proud to be a part of Andy’s efforts in drivers’ education and safety, to jointly help in saving lives,” said Mitch Wright, General Manager of the NCM Motorsports Park. “He has a long history of speaking to groups of Corvette fans at the Museum about traffic safety and the important role driving enthusiasts can play in making our roads safer. We’re excited to have a bigger community role, now offering educational materials and opportunities for schools, parents, teachers and children of all ages about the importance of distraction-free driving.”

Autographed copies of Pilgrim’s educational DVDs are available for purchase through the Corvette Store, and a number of outreach programs will be offered through the Traffic Safety Education Foundation. To learn more, visit trafficsafetyeducationfoundation.org.
