While the 2018 holiday season is barely in our rearview mirror, plans are already underway for the 2019 season at the NCM Motorsports Park as a new attraction will soon be in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The National Corvette Museum, which owns the NCM Motorsports Park land and facilities, was granted funding through the Special Tourism Projects Fund from the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to run and install electrical conduit, allowing the facility to offer drive-through holiday lights. The fund has supported non-profit attractions in Warren County by allocating a portion of hotel room tax to dozens of new projects over the years that draw visitors to the area, creating an economic impact on the community.

“We have been investigating and researching the possibility of doing a holiday season drive through light experience at the track for several years,” said Katie Ellison, Marketing and Communications Manager. “Once funding through the CVB became available, we decided to put together a formal proposal and apply.”

The Museum has networked with several other tracks across the country who have similar, successful light displays, including Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “Overwhelmingly, we found that this was a great way to make use of the track in the off season, but also a way to generate revenue and economic impact for our community in a typically slow tourist season.”

The Museum will be working with Winterland, Inc. of Indiana, who executes more than 200 light displays around the country each year. The display at the NCM Motorsports Park will feature more than 50-themed displays. “Many of the light displays will be animated, and we will have several fun, illuminated tunnels that visitors can drive through. Working with Winterland also gives us the ability to change out the displays each year so no two visits will be the same.”

‘Twinkle at the Track’ will utilize the facility’s west track, which is approximately two miles in length. Carload passes will be $20 each, Mondays through Wednesdays, and $25 on Thursdays through Sundays with 15+ passenger vehicles being $50. The attraction is slated to open on Thanksgiving weekend. (Prices, days and hours of operation subject to change). More information will be available soon at twinkleatthetrack.com.
