Each year, Road & Track magazine assembles the cream of the crop, the best performance cars available in North America, to vie for the title of Performance Car of the Year (PCOTY). For the third consecutive year, the chase for their annual crown will once again take place at the NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, KY.

“NCM opened in late summer 2014 and immediately gained traction as one of the most challenging yet fun tracks available. Road & Track approached us in 2015 wanting to bring their annual test to the track and of course we were on board,” said Mitch Wright, General Manager of the NCM MSP.  “The track continues to draw a lot of interest from manufacturers, media and enthusiasts.”

Road & Track’s Performance Car of the Year testing typically spans four days – two taking place on the back roads of Kentucky and Tennessee and two spent on track at the NCM Motorsports Park. Eligible vehicles must be new, or significantly revised for the model year and push the limits of high performance on both road and track. Last year’s competition welcomed nine contenders with a winner – the 2017 Acura NSX – chosen through two rounds of balloting among 10 Road & Track editors.

“Given our history with NCM Motorsports Park and how well everything has worked out over the years, we’re excited to be back for another great event,” said Kim Wolfkill, editor-in-chief, Road & Track.

Testing will take place this fall, and the winners will be featured in the December 2017 / January 2018 issue of the magazine. Readers can expect the PCOTY special issue to be filled with beautiful photography and insightful commentary, as this feature is both a fan favorite and coffee table staple.
